St. Patrick’s Day 2024 will break our extended above average streak
SIOUX CITY (KTIV ) - The last time temperatures were below average was on Feb. 28 when the high was 33 degrees. For the next 17 days temperatures have been above normal and at times well above normal. That streak ends today as highs struggle to hit the 40-degree mark.
And we are starting out on a chilly note this morning. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s but factor in the winds and wind chills are in the teens area wide. Jump 10 or so degrees from where you are early on and that will likely be your high today.
Two reasons why we will be chilly this afternoon. First off, clouds are moving in and although we will be mostly sunny later on, it will slow our warming down. Secondly, northwesterly winds are not pumping in any warm air either so that will limit our warming as well.
Speaking of cloud cover, we have seen flurries flying around early on today and more are expected into the morning and possibly the afternoon hours.
